hand embroidery is one of our favorite crafts at Make.Do. and there’s something about cooler weather that makes it even better! This harvest embroidery kit is designed as a stitch sampler, which means you get to practice six different stitches and end up with a new masterpiece to add to your cozy decor!

Supplies:
Grab a kit or gather the following supplies:
- embroidery floss
- needle
- needle threader (optional)
- 6″ embroidery hoop
- fabric or muslin
- scissors
- pencil
- harvest embroidery pattern
Prep and plan.
We’ll start by tracing the pattern. Draw as lightly as possible and try not to be too “sketchy” with your lines. That will make it easier to cover your pencil marks later.

Center your fabric on top of your pattern.

Hold your fabric taught as you trace. Be sure to transfer all the lines.

Center your fabric on the inner hoop.

Now add the outer hoop.

Tighten the screw and pull your fabric edges to take out any slack inside the hoop.

Now the fun part! Decide where you want to use each color. I like to try a few different arrangement to see which I like best. There's no wrong answer here, so don't fret too much.
Time to stitch!
These short videos will teach each of the 6 stitches for the harvest embroidery pattern. Follow along, or go rogue and substitute your favorite stitches instead.
You did it!
We want to see what you made! Be sure to tag Make.Do. if you share it on social media so we can brag on you.
